Romanian victim kill himself and his son because of Ransomware demanding $22,000

Marcel Datcu, 36, killed his 4 year old son and himself after his computesr was infected with ransomware demanding $22,000 fine otherwise he will be jailed for 11 year. In a suicide note, Datcu wrote that he can't afford to pay the fine. "I apologize to all of you ... I don't want Nicusor to suffer because of me ... I can't stand going to prison," he wrote.
Bitdefender recently found that hacker made almost $160,000 this year from a Romanian server via ransomware. Most of the ransom money was paid by victims from America, while 40% from Romanians.
